Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) team bagged four medals and a special award at the Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF) 2014 held at Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea recenty.
SIIF is one of the renowned exhibitions which showcased the latest products and inventions. SIIF also provided inventors from all over the world with comprehensive information on the invention's commercialisation potential, patent information as well as opportunities for technology transfer.
UUM Venture, a product developed by the team led by Dr. Shahrul Azmi Mohd Yusof from the School of Computing (SOC), Shanizan Herman Md Radzi from the School of Quantitative Sciences (SQS), Mohd Fitri Yusoff from the School of Multimedia Technology and Communication (SMMTC) and Pipin Ramadhani from SOC bagged the Gold medal at SIIF 2014.
"UUM Venture is a board game which uses the concept of edutainment in the classroom. There are two versions of this board game; UUM Venture Junior is developed for students in schools whereas UUM Venture Corporate is suitable for college students and executives," said Dr. Shahrul Azmi.
SmartSAFETY: Foreign Workers Safety Course for Malaysian Construction Industry, a product developed by Dr. Nurul Azita Salleh, Assoc. Prof. Abdul Nasir Zulkifli, Mohd Fitri Yusoff and Mazri Yaakob won the silver medal.
BMI Percentile Monitor for Monitoring Children's BMI for Parents, a product developed by Assoc. Prof. Abdul Nasir Zulkifli, Mustafa Moosa Qasim, Dr. Mazni Omar, Dr. Mazida Ahmad, Dr. Juliana Aida Abu Bakar, and Dr. Jafri L. Ahmad also bagged the silver medal.
Another product, Charantia Guava Tea, developed by Muhamad Shah Kamal Ideris and Nurul Syazana Hishamuddin received a special award from Thailand for the Best International Invention.
SIIF is organised by the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and is supported internationally by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the International Federation of Inventors Association (IFIA).
